In 2000, I painted this portrait of African American Theologian and Philosopher C. Eric Lincoln on commission for Clark Atlanta University where he had taught and was the beloved mentor of many generations of students as a memorium on his death. The scenarios surrounding the main figure depict episodes from his life and the subjects of his books. It went on to be used for the cover of
"How Long This Road: Race Relations and the Legacy of C. Eric Lincoln", edited by Alton B. Pollard III and Love Henry Whelchel, Jr. (Palgrave Macmillan, 2003) - four color book cover illustration.
